About the East Timor Scotland Support Group
The East Timor Scotland Support Group was founded by people who had already campaigned on behalf of East Timor in various ways, and felt that a unified Scottish voice on the issue would be beneficial.
The aims of the group are:
- to promote and support the right of the people of East Timor to democracy and self-determination as laid out in the Resolutions of the United Nations
- to raise awareness in Scotland of the political and economic conditions in East Timor and encourage others to join in supporting them and campaigning on their behalf
- to help all East Timorese, without regard to party or other factors, to secure their rights and well being and protect them against oppression
